Meditation is a simple way to help strengthen the mind and body. Our products facilitate and support meditation. Blue Lotus Yoga Essentials was started in 1986 by Lois Hamamoto who was making futons and pillows at home. A customer wanted a zafu, and with instructions from The Last Whole Earth Catalog, she made one.
We have been designing and manufacturing high quality meditation cushions and massage mats for over 30 years. We have built a solid network of trusted suppliers who provide us with the purest, highest quality certified organic and natural fibers available. Our goal is to provide you with the best and most comfortable products. Besides hand making meditation cushions we also have been manufacturing futons, mattresses, pillows and bedding since 1981. Our Boutique Production Studio
We produce everything on premises at our studio/retail location in the Historic Nob Hill neighborhood in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fabrics and raw materials come in the back door and leave as finished products out the front door. Space can be tight at times, but we are masters using what we have to get the job done. Our enclosed courtyard zen garden features a weeping Japanese cherry tree this is a great spot to take a break in between filling orders.

We are committed to a cleaner healthier planet. By combining our retail and production into one building we reduced our fuel consumption and the overall ecological footprint of our business. We produce our products in the most energy efficient ways available to us. We recycle as much as we can in order to lower our impact on landfills.
Our Natural Fiber Raw Materials
Over the last 30 years we have built a solid network of trusted suppliers. This ensures that we use the purest, highest quality raw materials availble on the market. We source our raw materials domestically as much as possible. We support American farmers and have been buying our cotton from the same supplier for over two decades. We use only Organic and Natural fibers to fill our cushions and mats. Our fabrics are durable and woven from quality natural fibers
